About Kontelio – Since September 2026

Kontelio was built to make invoicing and accounting easier for freelancers, the self-employed and small businesses in Germany.

Since September 2026, Kontelio has been available as a web-based platform, and it is continuously being developed further.

Our story

  1. The beginning

    Registration of the domain kontelio.de and public launch of the website and the app.

  2. The first users

    The first external customers signed up on the Kontelio platform.

  3. ELSTER integration

    ELSTER assigned Kontelio a product-specific vendor ID (HerstellerID).

  4. Trademark application

    Application for the word mark KONTELIO with the German Patent and Trade Mark Office (Deutsches Patent- und Markenamt, DPMA).

  5. Trademark registration

    Registration of the word mark KONTELIO with the DPMA in class 42.

Our mission

Kontelio aims to make running a business, accounting and e-invoicing simple – modern, easy to understand and multilingual.

  • Create invoices and e-invoices (ZUGFeRD, XRechnung) and send them by e-mail
  • Capture receipts as a photo or PDF and book them as expenses
  • Prepare the EÜR and the VAT return (Umsatzsteuer-Voranmeldung) from your own bookings and send them to ELSTER
  • Use Kontelio in 9 languages: German, English, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, Turkish, Arabic, Polish and French
